I started fermentation of a pumpkin ale that I was planning on kegging. I was wondering though, when kegging usually I see where people will charge the keg for a good day to at around 40 to get good carbonation. Does this also work the same when using beer gas instead of co2 ? Do you still use a pressure of 40 ?
When I pressurize for my nitro tap, I set my CO2 regulator to 20 psi for three days. This gets the beer saturated to around 3 psi. Take off CO2, lay keg on its side and then back up, and put on beergas set 30~35 psi. Let sit for 10 minutes and pour. This gives me a creamy head around one inch thick. Hope this helps.
