Recipe For Guinness Foreign Extra Stout Clone

I just got back from the Carribean, where I was really enjoying some of the export stouts they drink there. Best example is probably Guinness Foreign Extra Stout.

Wondering if anyone had tips on how to clone this style at home? At the moment I’m using canned/dried malt extracts and hops rather than all-grains.

Any idea on what kind of hops/how much malt/do I need a particular yeast to take it up to the 6-8 percent ABV mark?

Here’s a recipe you can try…

7 lbs 2 Row Pale Malt
1 lb oat hulls
1 lb   Roasted Barley
1/2 lbs British Crystal Malt 55L
1 lb  flaked barley

Mash for 152 for 90 minutes

Brew additions @ 60 min

1/2 oz Target hops
1/2 oz East Kent Goldings hops

1 tsp Irish Moss and 20 min

Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale Yeast

OG 1.044-1.045
FG 1.010-1.011
ABV 4.2
